Congratulations from the Rector of the Institute on the occasion of "March 8 — International Women's Day"

Congratulatory Address by the Institute Rector on the Occasion of "March 8 – International Women's Day"

Assalomu alaykum, dear teachers, kind and gracious sisters!

First of all, we sincerely congratulate you, and through you all the women of our country, on the holiday of beauty and elegance — March 8, "International Women's Day."

You are always in our thoughts and held in our esteem, while the "Women's Day" holiday is merely a symbolic date.

Dear sisters!

Since life first appeared on earth, humankind has exalted and honored the image of the sacred Mother and the woman.

Women hold an important place and position in the development of New Uzbekistan and in the life of the family and society. Women, who make up nearly 50 percent of our country's population, are working productively in all spheres of social, spiritual, political, and economic life — in particular in education, public administration and representative bodies, production, entrepreneurship, farming, healthcare, culture, and other social fields. In particular, the role of women is also of great importance in the life of our institute, and its weight is steadily growing.

Among the professors and teachers of our institute at present,

3 Doctors of Sciences, Professors, and 27 Candidates of Sciences, Associate Professors are women, and I consider it necessary to emphasize in particular that our women also work productively in the senior positions of the institute. In the same period of last year alone, 5 of our women continued their research at the institute and received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, and 6 of them received academic titles. I regard this as an example of the high regard shown to women in the life of our society.

In our country, extensive work is being carried out to increase women's social and political activity, to ensure unconditional respect for their rights and legitimate interests, to support motherhood and childhood in every way, to create conditions for them to realize their abilities and potential in various fields and sectors, and to strengthen the institution of the family. As the head of our state has stated: "We understand well that in a society where the rights and interests of women are guaranteed, there will surely be peace, justice, freedom, and prosperity. If a woman is happy, the family and society will surely be happy too." In the "Year of Attention to the Individual and Quality Education," it has also been established that work to increase women's social and political activity will continue consistently. Furthermore, this year places an even greater responsibility on the women of our institute and on our women scholars.

Whatever position you hold and whatever responsible duty you perform, you remain, first and foremost, a loving mother, a dear companion, and a caring sister.

Although poems, songs, and ghazals have been written for thousands of years to describe you, none of them is capable of fully revealing the image of a woman.

Dear and esteemed sisters!

Taking this opportunity, on this holiday I once again sincerely congratulate you, and in your person all the women of our country — our esteemed mothers, dear sisters, and beautiful daughters — on my own behalf and on behalf of the men of our team.

Rector of the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service, Po'latov Muhiddin Egamberdiyevich
