The First Uzbekistan-Latvia Rectors' Forum Is Taking Place
On September 4–5 of this year, a forum of rectors of higher education institutions of Uzbekistan and Latvia is being held in Riga, the capital of Latvia, on the initiative of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Latvian Ministry of Education and Science.
Among the heads of more than 40 higher education institutions from Uzbekistan and Latvia taking part in the forum is the Rector of the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Poʻlatov Muhiddin Egamberdiyevich.
During the forum, the participants will discuss new joint projects, the development of academic and research programs, the establishment of research centers and laboratories, short-term internships, guest lectures, seminars and master classes, the attraction of investment, and other related issues, and dozens of agreements between higher education institutions will be signed.
The official opening ceremony of the forum took place at the House of the Blackheads ceremonial hall. The official part of the event was opened by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Qo'ng'irotboy Sharipov, and the President of the Latvian Rectors' Council, Arvids Barshevskis. The officials noted that cooperation between the higher education systems of the two countries has developed further in recent years.
