Department of Banking

The department prepares highly qualified personnel in the following areas: 2 educational programs ("Banking," "Banking and Auditing"), 1 joint educational program (Regional Economics) with Kazan State University, 1 joint educational program (Commerce) with Tambov State University, and 2 master's degree programs ("Banking" and "Banking and Auditing") to train highly qualified specialists.

Currently, the department has 17 full-time positions, with 15 professors working in the main staff and 3 external employees, as well as 1 head of the Cabinet of Ministers. Among them are 1 Doctor of Economics, Professor, 1 Doctor of Economics, Professor V.B., 2 Candidates of Economic Sciences, Associate Professors, 2 Senior Lecturers, and 9 teachers (Assistant and Assistant-intern). Among the staff are experienced bank employees actively engaged in their professional activities.

Since the department's foundation, its faculty has prepared and published more than 10 textbooks (approved by the Ministry), about 20 teaching aids (approved by the Ministry), and more than 40 methodological guides and instructions. Additionally, during this period, the department's collective has published approximately 3000 articles in both foreign and domestic scientific journals, including more than 20 journals indexed in the Scopus database.

Based on the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan from March 26, 2004, No. 144 "On the organization of the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service" and the order of the rector of the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service from July 5, 2006, No. 94 - F, the department "Banking and Savings" was established within the institute. At the new department, educational, academic, and working programs, as well as educational-methodological complexes, were organized for all 24 specialties. During this period, the department developed and implemented state educational standards and curricula for 3 educational programs and 2 master's degree specialties.

2006 – The organizer of the "Banking and Savings" department, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Ukhtam Rashidov, was appointed head of the department.

2008-2018 – The position of head of the department was held by Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Zuhur Davronovich Niyazov.
The faculty and staff who have served as department heads after the renaming of the department to "Banking" in accordance with the Rector's Order No. 691-F, dated October 2, 2019:

The faculty of the department prepares standard programs for the subjects taught at the department, which are approved and implemented in the educational process. Comprehensive educational and methodological complexes for these subjects are also created.

For all subjects taught at the department, methodological guidelines are developed to support new pedagogical technologies for conducting lessons.

A special place in the department’s activities is occupied by issues related to spiritual and educational work and moral upbringing.

The faculty of the department conducts a “Department Day” once a month at the student house. During these sessions with students, a "Round Table" is organized, where answers are given to questions about issues of interest to the students, such as economic, social, and legal reforms being carried out in the Republic.

Currently, the "Banking" department employs 17 full-time staff, including 15 professors, 3 part-time staff, and 1 head of the office. Among them are 1 Doctor of Economics, Professor, 1 Doctor of Economics, Professor V.B., 2 candidates of economics sciences, associate professors, 2 senior lecturers, and 9 teachers (assistants and assistant trainees). Among the staff, there are experienced bank employees who are engaged in professional work. The proportion of academic degrees in the department is 26%, with the average age of full-time staff (excluding deputies) being 35 years.

The future goal of the "Banking" department is to further improve the educational process, provide textbooks, study guides, and methodological support for disciplines using new generations of educational and information technologies based on modern requirements. The goal is also to increase the effectiveness of scientific research (implementation in practice), expand integration between "subject – education – production," attract doctoral students and researchers to scientific work, ensure the timely completion of tasks, and improve the content and forms of individual work with gifted students through the "Mentor - Student" system, which includes non-traditional forms of relationships.

Suggestions for work that professors of the department will undertake in the near future may include:

-       Ensuring the creation of textbooks and study guides planned for the department (in co-authorship with scholars from other higher educational institutions) in accordance with the requirements of the time, within the prescribed deadlines.

-       Ensuring that all doctoral students and researchers working on doctoral dissertations at our faculty defend their dissertations within the planned timelines.

-       Ensuring the participation of the faculty in the competition for state and international grants.

-       Examining economic reforms being carried out in the Republic in terms of ensuring the comprehensive interconnection of topics for master’s and doctoral theses, based on the problems identified.
